AB 1594: Over the landfill and through the loophole

CLCV Supported
Signed by Gov. Brown

The practice of asking residents to separate their organic waste – only to landfill it with their other garbage – undermines the state’s compost businesses. This bill supports the expansion of composting by eliminating a loophole in state law that allows some yard trimmings and prunings that are used as landfill cover to count as being “diverted” from landfills.
