AB 744 will help achieve the state’s climate goals and improve housing affordability by reducing parking regulations for special needs, senior, and transit-oriented affordable housing. Excessive parking requirements encourage driving, reinforce sprawled development patterns, and increase housing costs. Parking is expensive to build and takes up valuable space which could be used to house people, not cars.
