Since serving as Acting Interior Secretary, David Bernhardt lobbied hard for the environmentally destructive Cadiz Water Project and Shasta Dam Project in California, despite resistance from our state leaders.
He’s unfit to lead the Interior Department, and the Senate should reject his nomination for Interior Secretary.
Calling David Bernhardt ‘scandalous’ would be an understatement.
He’s lobbied for Big Oil companies who fought to rollback Endangered Species Act protections.
He’s diverted public funds for private profit at enormous costs to our natural resources.
He’s ignored public opinion and bypassed public comment periods to rush dangerous offshore drilling along California’s coast.
And he’s lied to Congress about his former clients and his own lobbying activities.
David Bernhardt has spent his entire career working against our environment, operating on behalf of Big Oil companies, and representing the very threats the Interior Department should be protecting us against.
Now, Trump has nominated him to lead the Interior Department.
We cannot allow this outrageous nomination go unchallenged.
Tell the Senate: reject the nomination of fossil fuel lobbyist David Bernhardt immediately »
It is preposterous for him to lead this department while attached to so many scandals and interests of his former clients.
Confirmation hearings have started, and we need you to speak out today.
We can win this fight. Last year, after nearly 1 million people across the country -- including nearly 10,000 CLCV members -- demanded the disgraced former EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt's resignation, Polluting Pruitt finally stepped down. This happened because of the relentless efforts of people like you.
You spoke up, they listened.
We can continue that fight now, but only if we keep the pressure on. We must fight this nomination with everything we have in order to protect our progress, but we need everyone to get on board right now to do it.
These are fights I know we can win. But only if we have you.
ACT NOW: Resist Trump’s nomination of David Bernhardt as Interior Secretary »
Thank you for taking action.
